Accounting can play a central role in both helping businesses to be more sustainable and holding them to account for unsustainable behaviour. As sustainability concerns such as climate change, biodiversity loss, resource constraints (environmental), diversity and inclusion, human rights and worker safety (social) become more important every day, accountants are now just as likely to find themselves working with data on carbon emissions, water, or workplace accidents, as financial data. In this course, students learn what kind of sustainability information businesses need to account for, and how they do so. Students will also become familiar with the concept of corporate accountability and learn how accounting can be used to identify and challenge greenwashing and corporate irresponsibility. Through this course, learners develop problem-solving, critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills by applying them to cutting-edge sustainable business challenges.
These are the teachers you'll work with on the challenge.
