What do you think of when you try to picture an engineer? In this micromodule, you will explore how varied the image of an engineer can be depending on a range of different contexts (time periods, geographic location, socioeconomic or disciplinary background), identities (notably gender), and the impact that these engineers have had on the world. Concepts such as science, innovation and social progress will all be open to investigation and debate. Particular focus will be put on the role women play in both engineering history and in the present day. We encourage you to use your openness and curiosity to develop new perspectives on this topic that is essential to all future engineers.
