Our Challenge

The industrial AI Challenge is an established challenge organized by HIT and DISI, now at the 6th edition. The students of the “AI and Innovation” course by prof. Formentini participate directly to this challenge as part of the course, with the aim to apply their AI competences in a real-life setting by solving challenges provided by companies through the development of AI solutions, and the application of innovation and operations management techniques. In the last three years this challenge attracted the attention of Auburn University, Harbert College of Business. In 2025 17 American students visited Trento to work together with Trento students on the Industrial AI Challenge activities, having the opportunity to visit the partner companies, and discover Italy. The expected learning outcomes are: • the development of innovation and operations management competences for Trento students; • the development of AI-related competences for Auburn students; • The joint development of teamworking skills for both student groups; • The development of international and intercultural relationships.
